Hi Doug,
Welcome to IMSLP. Nice typeset: Sibelius I take it? I noticed one or two minor errors: on the first page the accents in the viola part have attached to the appogiatura, not the main note, which is why they appear cue-sized. On page 3, the mf in the clarinet part has been attached to bar 28 rather than bar 29, which with the system break has placed it out of its' correct place. Also, are the extra clarinet bars at page 10 supposed to be an ossia stave to avoid playing the top G (which on a B flat clarinet rather than the C would be top A)? Phil Thanks for the input, as far as i was reading the original from above the accents are on the appogiaturas, and yes indeed, the ossia is indeed to aboid the top A which is inconvenient to play at speed. I would update the clarinet part so the mf is in the righ tplace, but i have misplaced the sibelius file, new laptop etc.

Hello Varnis, Thanks for completing the set. I edited your posting a bit so you would be credited as the uploader of the Clarinet parts. Do you happen to know who the actual typesetter is? We'd very much like to give the proper attribution to the person who took the time to create the parts. It's also required under the Creative Commons License. Carolus, I genuinely do not know, its an example score you get with Sibelius 5, and is not credited in the program, i suppose someone could email sibelius, but i dont think its that important. --Varnis 08:34, 9 June 2009 (EDT)
Thanks for signing up! Would you like to start with "Symphonic pieces with soloists", as I was actually hoping to tackle the "symphonic poems" myself at some point? There's a lot of mistakes need fixing in there :-) — P.davydov 17:47, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
No problem, I was steering clear of symphonies, since I have a feeling that might take a while, so yes, ill make a start with Symphonic Pieces with Soloists for sure --Varnis 17:49, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi Varnis, I see you've started! Could you make sure to put spaces either side of the semi-colon, like this: "symphonies ; va orch". If you hit any problems then just list them here and I'll get back to you (probably tomorrow). Thanks — P.davydov 00:30, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Aha, that would be the problem, cheeers --Varnis 00:31, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Going very well so far! Just to mention that Strauss's Burleske isn't a symphony (even though someone had put it in the "symphonic pieces" genre!), so we don't need that tag - P.davydov 00:58, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
I was struggling to think where to put it, im falling back on "pieces" if no other category seems relevant, see L'Encore_(Herbert,_Victor) --Varnis 09:41, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Excellent progress Varnis! BTW, could you make sure to use "ch" for (mixed) chorus, rather than "vv" (which is just for vocal soloists). Thanks! — P.davydov 17:37, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Hi Varnis. Thanks for all your work on the sonatas. Unfortunately a lot of your tags for the requiems have had to be changed because they gave the wrong soloists or accompaniment. I notice you did them very late at night, so that's probably the reason :-) — P.davydov 09:20, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Hi Varnis! I have a very close friend of mine having a degree recital and she's looking for parts for Ravel's Piano Concerto in G. Unfortunately, the school's ensemble library does not have the full parts for the concerto. And it's nearly impossible to find the full orchestral parts. Is there any way that you could share the parts you uploaded with me so that I don't have to type them all over again? Her recital is in mid March. Please let me know what you think. Thanks! — witelier @ 20:45, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi, the parts seem to be hireable from durand here you could also try music libraries nearby. Out of interest, where in the world are you, perhaps it would be possible for me to send the parts to your friends supervisor/tutor at if he/she has a university email address. I dont know if that would be sufficient proof of her location?--Varnis 16:01, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi Varnis. When tagging, please just remember that 'cantatas' is not a valid tag - it has to be either 'sacred cantatas' or 'secular cantatas', or it will register as an unknown tag. Thanks, KGill talk email 00:22, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks KGill, at the start of my last run at tagging I hadnt actually read the comments page, and last time I did any 'cantatas' was a valid tag, so pardon the mistake :) Noted and I will make sure to use the correct tag in future--Varnis 00:53, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Unless the rules have changed from those I'm aware of, tags should always be based on the original instrumentation when known, and works left untagged when not known (as with Frey's Among the Lilies, I believe. My -best- guess would be that that was a song, not a violin work, or maybe a piano piece- actually, will do a books.google.com and other resources check later to see if I can find any clues... ). Eric (but that said, something should be done with it, and we'll see what we all can do. And I may be wrong about the present rules - though I'm relatively new to the group I still manage to be behind the times quite often!) 15:18, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I would heartily agree about the work originally being for voice, and I have a couple of sources that talk about his setting of the extract with regard to meter and other considerations, I was just under the impression that If an arrangement exists then it is tagged as a separate work if the original version is not present. It seems to me that the at the moment the page is of much more use to a violinist or a pianist than a singer? Your point is taken however, and I will see if I can dig up a voice version somewhere for upload. --Varnis 10:17, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
A search suggests it may have been a work for (small? salon?) orchestra instead. I find a reference (maybe two) to it in that form around 1898, none earlier, just right now. though that doesn't mean it was the original form either... Eric 11:29, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
