Ouvertüren

History

A series for small ensembles published by Aibl of Munich.

Arrangement were made for the following groups:

1. string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello (or bass))
2. string quintet (2 violins, viola, cello, bass)
3. flute quartet (flute, violin, viola, cello (or bass))
4. flute quintet (flute (or piccolo), 2 violins, viola, cello (or bass)).

It was issued from the early 1850s until about 1888. Aibl also issued Casino, a similar series of operatic potpourris for small orchestra, and Sammlung der Ouvertüren für kleines Orchester (from which it appears the flute and string parts were also used in Ouvertüren).
