First printed in 1870 (WorldCat; date 1870, if Worldcat is approximately right, is confirmed from the Sept. 10 1870 "The Illustrated London News, Volume 57", p.282, which notes that Novello is publishing the cantata. A later (second?) edition, which like this one is preceded by the libretto and has "Novello's Original Octavo Edition" on the first page, and fewer pages in all than the first edition does, was published perhaps ca.1890 (189x?) acc. Worldcat.
