Discussed in Ashbrook, "Donizetti and His Operas", pp.315–16, 549. Parts of this opera were later reused in Anna Bolena, in Ugo and perhaps in Parisina. Based on Sperduti's 5-act play Imelda, 1825. Performed in 1830, 1840, 1843 and 1856, and has been recorded on the Opera Rara label; few other revivals known(?).

Libretto published in 1830 by Naples: Tip. Flautina.
