Navigation etc.

Tutto è silenzio is an concert aria dedicated to soprano Anna Milder-Hauptmann written in 1829. In a letter dated April 15, 1829, Fanny Mendelssohn described rehearsing this piece with Milder-Hauptmann while Felix was abroad in England. The soloist requested that Fanny phrase the vocal part, a request Fanny considered "ridiculous" but agreed to comply with (see Todd, p.195). The libretto is a combination of two libretti: Rossi's 'Tebaldo e Isolina' (recitative) and Metastasio's 'Alcide al bivio' (aria). Only a few pages of the manuscript survive.
