I composed this pieces while a student at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. Azerbaijani composer Arif Melikov was a visiting professor at our music department during that time when I took a few composition lessons from him. Seeing my passion for writing waltzes, he suggested I write a waltz with an Wastern/local flavor. So I did.
Op.54 No.2A is the way it looked when I first took it to him.
Op.54 No.2B is the shape it took upon applying his suggestions to the piece in the lesson.
Op. 54 No.2C is the way I finally decided it should be, incorporating most of Melikov's suggestions, but not all.
