Misc. Notes

The uploader cites thesession.org, but according to them, they only classified it as a hornpipe because there was no category for clog dance. In the publication in which it is found (see below, Comments), it is classified as a jig. The main point is that it is not classified as a hornpipe in either source. The same sort of problem exists with the uploader's attribution to Samuel Kilburn. The cited source does not attribute it to Kilburn, and no evidence can be found anywhere else that Kilburn wrote it. In the source cited below, it is anonymous.

Extra Information
|
Labled a 'jig' in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (refering to a "straight" or "sand jig," a type of syncopated duple-time dance tune and not the Irish 6/8 jig) - called a 'clog dance' in Kerr's Merry Melodies.
|
Navigation etc.
Published in Ryan's mammoth collection (Boston: Elias Howe, 1883), though it is not known whether that was the earliest publication. Further, although this collection is for fiddle players, this jig may have originally been for any treble instrument. Tagging subject to correction.
