Dates 1887 and 1889 from Marco Polo program notes (uncredited; online) to their 1986 recording of this work. The symphony has been recorded at least three times, once (1986) conducted by Halasz on Marco Polo, once by Yondani Butt on ASV (in 1995), and more recently by Lan Shui and the Singapore Philharmonic for BIS Records. Orchestration from Free Library of Philadelphia catalog. - Schissel

The E major introduction to the Allegro quasi presto quickly slips into A-flat minor :) (for the rest of the scherzo; the trio is in A-flat major.) The Andante assai that begins the finale opens (briefly) in A minor.
