This piece is a musical story of the American spirit at it's best, its spirit of adventure, of determination, of optimism, and of courage. I was imagining how it might have been for early settlers who came here, for pioneers who traveled across the great continent to the west, and for the pioneers of space. I imagined the great seas, the great plains, and the great skies that were crossed in a spirit of exploration. I did the same as I composed this, but musically. There is so much to discover all around us.
