Extra Information *The private premiere might have taken place on day after the dedication (October 16, 1825) since Eduard Ritz's 23rd birthday was October 17 and concerts were regularly given at the Mendelssohn house on Sundays. If not October 16 it would have been performed later in the Autumn of 1825. The public premiere could have taken place on March 17, 1832. Ritz, who owned the manuscript and copied the manuscript parts, died only a few weeks before (January 23). This might have prompted a memorial concert in which the work was premiered. The 1836 date is the first confirmed public performance after publication.
