History

Siegel & Schimmel began operations in Berlin in 1883. According to Hofmeister's Verzeichnis for 1897 the company (or perhaps its catalog with the exception of the works of Max Becker) were sold to W. Salzer of Leipzig on November 1, 1897. This may explain the notice of "Neuer Verlag 1898" that appears on Siegel & Schimmel's imprints starting in that year and the possible restarting of their plate numbers. In 1901 it was purchased by Heinrichshofen's Verlag (source?). It published light works, mainly songs and piano music, for domestic use by Victor Hollaender, Louis Kron, Max Becker, F. Damm, F. Wohlfahrt, Rudolf Forster, Paul Lincke, and Reissland.
