Alexander Sergeyevich Kochetkov was born in the Losinoostrovskaya Settlement, Moscow Region on May 12th 1900.
He died on May 1st 1953 in Moscow. The Ballad of a Smoky Carriage was written in 1932 but not published until 1966
in the Almanac "Poetry Day". In 2019 the Civil Code of the Russian Federation extended author's copyright from 50 to 70 years (Clause 1 Article 1281).
Kotchetkov's poetry entered the public domain on January 1st 2024.
