Extra Information
|
Prokofiev started to compose this piece in 1912 and finished it in 1913, premiering the work on the same year. However, during the Russian Revolution the score was destroyed. He reconstructed the score from the sketches in 1923 and re-premiered the work in 1924 but the new score was so different from the original that, according to Prokofiev, it almost could be considered a new concerto.

Navigation etc.
The first version is not wholly lost. Manuscript of orchestral parts were copied for two performances, and some of these parts are preserved in the Russian National Museum of Music (a.k.a Glinka Museum). However, it is unclear whether the full score exists.
