The premiere performance had no good luck. Kuula was in a hurry, the score arrived too late for the performers to have a sufficient preparation time and only one rehearsal took place. The choir was hastily assembled from both female and male singers available in Helsinki at that time and a full orchestra was impossible. Thus, the work was finally performed by this ad hoc choir with a simple brass ensemble accompaniment, all in unison under Madetoja's direction.
