Ernest Köhler of Edinburgh published mainly violin music from about 1830. Frederik Ernst Köhler immigrated from Germany around 1800. He and his sons Ernest and Philip made violins and accessories, and published sheet music. Philip continued the business from 1860 after the others' deaths. They published many traditional dance tune collections such as Köhler's Violin Repository of Dance Music (Various).
James Yorkston, an employee, wrote the song Molly Malone in the early 1870s and it was published by Köhler.
