Extra Information	Commandé par le Gouverneur français de Erfurt pour l'anniversaire de Napoléon. Avant d'écrire cette œuvre Spohr a longuement étudié le Traité de la fugue et du contrepoint (1753) de Marpurg (1718-1795), puisqu'il était d'usage à l'époque que les oratorios comportent une fugue. Spohr jugeant l'œuvre trop impersonnelle en a refusé la publication.
