Extra Information After a 1877 performance in Berlin, "Perhaps surprised at this renewed interest in a student effort, Wagner took the work in hand on 8 January 1878 only to dismiss it “in anger” - to quote his wife Cosima - and resolved not to publish it" (from Cosima's diaries, as quoted in Robinson's notes).
