Mr Mattias Bengtsson was a Swedish singer, poet, songwriter and comic. He also had a usual profession working in a laboratory for preparation of human tissues for microscopy. In music he was an autodidact.
In february 2026 he passed away in cancer only 54 years old. As a person he was remarkable both by his personality and by his physical length. He was more than 2 meters tall. He was a local from the Swedish province Scania (Skåne) and a prolific speaker of the local dialect and deeply rooted in the local culture. He was a farmer's son from the village Kabusa between Ystad and Tomelilla and ended his life in another villige in the same region, Ekeby east of Helsingborg. He never found a woman and left this world without an own family and without children. Therefore his parents inherited the copyright of his songs, musical pieces and other artistic works (poetry etc).
Mr Bengtsson was a skilled and productive songwriter - both lyrics and music. His style was strongly influenced by earlier songwriters in the tradition of the landscape Scania. When he performed his songs or songs of other people he usually presented them in small texts which partially are preserved. He also wrote at least three musicals, of which the last remained unfinished (2023/4). He was also a bandleader, and during many years I myself was the pianist in his band 'Kabusatoner'. This band had shifting members, but during the last years it consisted of Mr. Bengtsson himself (voice, diatonic button accordeon), a trumpet player, a female singer and violinist and, finally, by myself (piano). I have no permission to mention the names of the trumpet player and the violinist but am good friend with them.
Mr Bengtsson and I were very close friends. When he died, his parents gave me their permission to document his musical and poetic legacy and to publish all finished works here on IMSLP under copyright restrictions. Thus I will be the publisher here on this site of all works by Mr Bengtsson which I think are of value for the future, and these works are quite many.
The administrators received the letter of permission, in which Mr Bengtssons parents allowed me to do all this for my dead friend.
Most on this site will be held in Swedish language since it is most likely that most interested people will be of Swedish or other Scandinavian origin.
There is no official biography of Mr Bengtsson available, but I will include my personal memories. Perhaps other persons - relatives or friends of Mr Bengtsson - will make up their minds later on and contribute with their part.
So this site will be am mixture of Mattias Bengtssons songs, other pieces, poetry and different remarks from the publisher (=me).
Sincerely
Frank Zintl Holder of the letter of permission from the copyright owners
