Improvised. When my daughter was a baby we had a rack of toys on her bouncy seat, one of which was a plastic googly-eyed spinning toy. We would spin it for her and the eyes would wobble and she would squeal with laughter. We called that toy Boogie Eyes. So for fun, I named this piece after that little toy. This is one of my works composed using my Ensoniq EPS. I recorded samples into the EPS of sounds I made with my mouth and then altered them using the power of the synthesizer. I connected my computer's sound card to my EPS via MIDI cables. Then, using music software Finale, I composed a number of works that operated my EPS remotely. Boogy Iz uses my Breathe In and Strain Sustained sounds exclusively out of the 8 available sounds. The score is not really playable on any instruments except for mine. The score is not very readable because it is only for your to look at while you listen to the music.
