Composer's Note: The Ancient Greek word "Agapē" (Ἀγάπη) refers to the highest form of what was understood to be the three main categories of love—the other two being "Eros" and "Philia". Eros and Philia relate to romantic and brotherly love respectively, while Agape is the highest form of love—sacrificial, divine love. As St. Porphyrios says beautifully, "the love (agape) of God transforms everything; it sanctifies, amends and changes the nature of everything. You live in the stars, in infinity, in heaven with the angels, with the saints, on earth with people, with plants, with animals, with everyone and everything." This piece is an attempt to capture some of that joy.
