Misc. Notes score performed by Ensoniq EPS, recorded by Audacity. This is the 4th of 4 pieces I wrote for Flute and Piano. The performance here is using a synthesizer instrument call Ze-Flutes. It sounds like it combines a harpsichord and flute. It is playable on a real flute. Fantasy 4 quotes a few notes from each of these: Bethena by Scott Joplin, Mansion Builder by Annie Herring, Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa, and Mary Had a Little Lamb. It was composed from a handful of variations I wrote on the first theme, back in about 1972 or 1973. Each section is based on a different variation.

Extra Information Paul Harrington, flutist, and I performed the first 3 of these in 1983. I originally wrote the 1st and 3rd fantasies for piano solo and the 2nd one for violin and piano. Later I expanded these 3 and arranged number 2 for flute, all for the 1983 performance with Paul Harrington. Though I wrote number 4 for flute and piano, I performed it on my Ensoniq EPS using a sample called ZE-Flute.
