A Breitkopf edition of these quartets was brought out in ca.1801 (mentioned in the Intelligenzblatt of AMZ then); a Falter edition of opus 6 was reviewed in AMZ in 1802. PecD refers to Volkmar von Pechstaedt's Thematisches Verzeichnis der Kompositionen von Franz Danzi (1763-1826) (Tutzing, 1996); SmWV refers to Erich Duda (Das musikalische Werk Franz Xaver Süßmayrs. Thematisches Werkverzeichnis, Kassel, 2000) (why these quartets are included in a Süßmayr thematic catalog I do not know! Though they do have the line
"Querverweis: Dalayrac, Nicolas-Marie, Süßmayr, Franz Xaver" suggesting that with Op.5, even though they were published as Danzi's, there may be attribution issues. Again, don't know.- Schissel
