Extra Information Composed in 1935 by Claire Delbos, the slow and meditative Deux pièces were premiered by her husband, Olivier Messiaen (1908–1992), on 29 January 1935 at the church of Saint Antoine de Quinze-Vingts alongside the first performances of his own works, L'Ascension and Le banquet céleste.
