Extra Information Spohr withdrew this quartet (and the previous one, Op.155 in Eb) from publication about a year after the date of composition, leaving it in manuscript until the 21st century. Opus number 157 assigned by Hans Glenewinkel in study of Spohr's chamber music in 1912.
