Editor’s Notes: [more...] A great sonata by Giuseppe Sammartini. The key of B-flat major leads to the use of the lowest F note on the treble recorder which could create some playing difficulty for the beginning player. This suggests the use of the Oboe or the Traverso in place of the treble Recorder which was a common practice at the baroque period. The manuscript has no chords numbering; thus, the continuo has been fully realized by the editor. Other small changes have been made by the editor like the bass line in the last bars of the 3rd movement.
