She married composer Emil Bohnke (1888—1928) in 1919.
She was killed in an automobile accident at Pasewalk, Pomerania, May, 1928. with her husband.
Her father was Franz von Mendelssohn of the Bankhaus Mendelssohn (1735-1938, succeded by Deutsche Bank). He lived in the Palais Mendelssohn in Berlin, designed by Ernst von Ihne in the 1890s
The pianist Robert-Alexander Bohnke (1927-2004) was her son.
